The Process to get Started
1
After initial contact is made you will be asked to complete an athlete questionnaire and waivers and schedule a free consultation to discover if we are a right fit for each other. We will also review your athlete questionnaire to learn more about your background.
2
Then we will schedule a phone call, virtual meeting, or in-person meeting (locals) to review your athlete questionnaire together and discuss what would be the next best step moving forward.
3
After our meeting I will go back over your questionnaire and the notes I took during our meeting and I will set up your TrainingPeaks account. You would use TrainingPeaks to upload your training data from your training device and provide subjective feedback.

How will Fly Tri Racing Coach Me?
Generally, we like to work with an athlete long enough for them to realize their goals and potential. Typically this is for an entire year or racing season. Once we have your training and racing goals established we will build your training in 1-2 or 2-4 week blocks. We will make changes as life gets in the way, and give performance feedback based on your workouts.
Trust and communication between the two of us is key! The frequency and intensity of your training will depend on your athletic background, training, and/or racing goals, and your time constraints due to family or work.
We work with local and regional athletes, but we can do frequently work with athletes nationwide in any geographic location, including internationally. A majority of the coach-athlete interaction will occur through primarily the TrainingPeaks software application itself, text messaging/videos, calls, and video calls occasionally. We can “virtually” coach athletes who live locally and all around the world. The “virtual coaching” environment has become the new normal the last decade or more in the world of endurance sports coaching, with great success.
What will I need?
For running coaching all you really need is a good pair of running shoes with a watch and a chest strap heart rate monitor.
For triathlon coaching, we will assume you already have the basics like a triathlon or road bike, as well as swim, bike, run gear. You will also need regular access to a swimming pool, and safe places to ride and run. Outside of that you will need a device (watch) with a GPS and heart rate monitor for all three sports to record and upload your metrics or activities into TrainingPeaks.
In addition, to the above, we strongly recommend you have an indoor trainer and a power meter for your bike. Both can yield more improvement in your cycling fitness at a faster rate, as well as enhancing your coaching and training experience.
